The system

Built by and for first responders.
Activated in hours.
100% to the family.

When a Line of Duty Death happens, every minute matters. Hero Family Bridge is the network that moves fast — so families don't face the gap alone.

The membership

A network that activates when it's needed most.

Hero Family Bridge is a peer to peer crowdfunding membership — not a charity, not a fund. First responders and civilian supporters join the network. When an LODD occurs, the network is called to action.

  • First responders and civilian supporters join as members.
  • No recurring dues. No complicated tiers.
  • When an LODD happens, members are asked to give $2, $5, $10 or more — once, for that family.
  • The larger the network, the more powerful the response.

The alert system

Text and email. Within hours. Every member.

When an LODD is confirmed, Hero Family Bridge sends a text and email to every member in the network. The ask is simple and the window is short — in 24 to 48 hours and the ask is sent, and monies start to be sent in ...

01

LODD is confirmed

A Line of Duty Death is verified and reported to the Hero Family Bridge network.

02

Alert sent to every member

Text and email go out immediately. Every member of the network is notified within hours of confirmation.

03

The ask: $2, $5, $10 or more

Members are asked to contribute a small amount — whatever they can — within the next 24 to 48 hours.

04

Funds go directly to the family

100% of every dollar raised for that family goes to that family. No overhead. No delay.

The Survival Bridge

Hero Family Bridge three-phase funding model: Day 1 initial response, 12–36 month funding gap, Year 3+ long-term stability

100% of funds raised for a family go directly to that family.

This is not a general fund. When the network raises money for a specific family, that family receives every dollar. Hero Family Bridge does not take a percentage, a fee, or an administrative cut from family-designated contributions.

The benefit gap

The PSOB benefit is real. The wait is real too.

The federal Public Safety Officers' Benefit (PSOB) provides a death benefit to families of first responders killed in the line of duty. But the process takes time — often 12 to 36 months from the date of death.

The insurance gap

A clause that almost excluded 442 First Responder families.

On September 11, 2001, 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 39 EMS heroes — and the rest of the 2,977 victims — were killed. Their life insurance policies refused to pay — citing an "Act of War or Terror" clause that voided the death benefit. After a legal fight, most benefits were paid. The rest of the 2,977 who died that day also had families, and also did not get full benefits without the legal battles.

This exposure still exists in policies today. Hero Family Bridge works with departments to identify and address this gap — and potentially other benefit gaps — before a family is left with nothing.
